Location

WITH A RICH HISTORY, STUNNING SEA VIEWS, MATURE NATIVE BUSH AND A SPARKLING VILLAGE, BIRKENHEAD IS ONE OF THE MOST SOUGHT-AFTER SUBURBS ON AUCKLAND’S NORTH SHORE.

Birkenhead is easily accessible from the harbour bridge or a relaxing ferry-ride from downtown Auckland. Take a unique heritage walk around the Chelsea Sugar Factory, venture into LeRoys Reserve or play in the hip town centre - home to an artisan market, fashion boutiques, cafés and award-winning restaurants.

Parks & Reserves

Birkenhead is filled with local parks and reserves that provide a lush green backdrop to the suburb.
Historic areas abound, including the botanically rich Chatswood Reserve in which ancient Kauri
still stand to this day. There are many heritage and nature walks that weave their way throughout the suburb, including through one of the largest native bush areas in Auckland.

Transport

With only a 10 minute drive to the harbour bridge - or a short bus or ferry ride - Birkenhead is surprisingly close to Auckland CBD. There is plenty of free parking in and around Birkenhead village for your convenience.

Cafés & Restaurants

There are a number of top restaurants and
boutique cafés in the area including the Engine
Room, Eight Point Two, Ravenhill, The Good Home
and Stafford Road Wine Bar.

Village Life

A vibrant community spirit is alive and well in the heart of Birkenhead Village, with a focus on local
people and places. The Birkenhead Library is a shining example of civic architecture and the pride this community takes in it’s own patch. Spend an afternoon in this contemporary space and exploit the panoramic views from Rangitoto and the Coromandel in the east to the Waitakeres in the west.
